Hormone replacement therapy is the "therapeutic use of hormones to alleviate the effects of hormone deficiency."[1] Hormone replacement therapy includes estrogen replacement therapy.
Estrogen replacement therapy
There is increased risk of harm if estrogen replacement therapy is started later in life according to the HERS[2] and Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) [3][4] randomized controlled trials.
There is conflicting evidence regarding risk of cardiovascular disease among women who start hormone replacement therapy soon after menopause.[5][6]
